PASTOR'S UPDATE

Dear Church Family, 

Prepare your hearts and minds for worship on Sunday by reading Matthew 5:17-20 (English + Mandarin). In these verses, Jesus continues His “Sermon on the Mount” by beginning to explain the relationship between obedience to the Scriptures, righteousness and access to the Kingdom of Heaven. The standard seems impossible, but do not think that He has come to leave us hopeless. Jesus always leads us graciously. Therefore, let us continue to follow Him diligently, trust Him completely, and serve Him faithfully.

21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

• Dates: January 12- February 1, 2026

• Why: To grow closer to Christ and to serve our city! Click HERE for more information.

• Fasting:  The goal is not merely to suffer, but to remind ourselves about our dependency on the Lord by fasting from some other “dependency” in our life. Keep it simple and sustainable, and whatever you fast from, be sure to replace it with a time of prayer. Some ways to fast include: give up 1 meal per day; fast from specific foods (i.e., meat or sweets); turn off social media. NOTE: if you fast from food in any way, be careful to do it in a way that does not compromise your health.

• Suggested Fast Method:

  • Week 1: Media Fast—abstain from social media habits, movies, TV, etc

  • Week 2: Favorite Food Fast—abstain from favorite foods, e.g., sweets, snack-food, meat

  • Week 3: Solid Food Fast—drink only liquids such as broth, smoothies, tea, milk 

  • Theme Verse: Matthew 9:36-38 (ESV)

• Prayer & Devotion: Receive daily encouragement by texting “2026” to 833-357-5145 to receive daily devotional videos by text (a great option if you’re fasting from social media). Or you can subscribe to the YouTube channel at youtube.com/@thechicagopartnership.
